After the conquest of Britain, the furthest reach of the Roman Empire was the ancient road now known as the Fosse Way. A salt track, a white way, the Albios Way became a frontier which slashed through Dobunni territory.
The great rebel leader, Caratacus, has murdered the king of the Dobunni and transported his daughter, Branwen, as a slave to Rome. Her betrothed, Togidubnus, king of the Atrebates, is left with a choice: stay in Britain and protect his peoples from the ravages of the Romans or go and rescue Branwen.
Son of a druid mother and a father who was an ally of Rome, can he find a way to reconcile not only Rome and Britain but also the two halves of himself?
